Now we will go through Figure 323.2.2A which contains different curves.

Figure: 323.2.2A : Minimum temperatures without impact testing for carbon steel materials. The values related to figure 323.2.2A is given in Table 323.2.2A Tabular values for minimum temperatures without impact testing for carbon steel materials.

The table can be referred based on the thickness and curve. Please note that the temperature given in the table is the minimum temperature the material can be used with out impact testing.

Based on the nominal thickness and the curve from Table A-1M the minimum temperature that a material can operate without impact testing can be found out.

Question: What is the minimum design temperature without impact testing for a 10mm thick A106Gr B material?

Answer: From Table A-1M, the curve corresponding to A106GrB is Curve B. As per the above table corresponding to 10mm nominal thickness, -28.9 Deg. Celsius is the minimum temperature.
